New Years 2014

I decided to kick 2014 off with something memorable, so me and Stephen ignored the wet and headed into town for some rooftop fun, at about 9 o’clock we met up and decided we’d pass the time with some simple jumps on a a few low roofs and a multistory car park, which included me doing a hilarious bail/new move with a precision to seat, unfortunately not caught on camera. At around 10 we headed to the top of Tesco Express where we had a decent view of  the top of the town and people wandering around between bars and clubs, we had to be a bit careful here because we could see quite a few police patrolling the area.

Once we’d got bored we headed up to the cathedral to chill and pass the time before the main climb we had planned, we did a few simple tricks on the wet grass to stay warm, then around half 11 we went to the Greestone building to get our favourite view of the city, it’s a 3 story climb but broken up into 3 different small climbs, so it’s very simple but was complicated slightly by the wet and our shoes having lost most of their grip. Still, we made it the top safely and got the cameras set up, it was kind of disappointing with just a few fireworks going off in the distance. Then it struck 12 and we were treated to one of the most spectacular sights I’ve ever seen. We could see pretty much every firework going off in Lincoln and the cathedral bells were ringing about 500 feet behind us. After about half an hour things started to die down and it had started to rain a little, we decided to head down now before we lost all the feeling in our fingers. Once we got down we decided to head to the top of another car park to see if we got any interesting views, and someone treated us to a nice back garden firework show just across the street from where we were, which I just about managed to catch on camera. After a few minutes it became obvious that everyone was done for the evening so we called it a night.

It’s difficult to be anything other than optimistic about 2014 when you start it in such an amazing way.
